What we do

Who are we?

Cancer Council NSW is a community funded; community focused cancer charity and receives no direct government funding. We are the trusted independent voice on all cancers for all people, guiding communities on what they can do to prevent, treat, and manage cancer.

What do we do?

We support, guide, connect and engage with communities of NSW to prevent, manage and inform people about cancer.

Our vision is cancer defeated. Together we can beat cancer.
The truth about cancer in men
1 in 2 Australians will be diagnosed with cancer by age 85. More than 43,000 people are estimated to have died from cancer in 2010.
While cancer is one of the leading causes of death among Australians, around one-third of all cancers can be prevented with a healthy lifestyle. Cut your cancer risk by not smoking, reducing alcohol intake, eating healthily and exercising.
Being overweight increases your long-term cancer risk, so watch the waistline. Keep your doctor happy by eating less red meat and processed meat. Limit red meat to 3-4 times a week.
